Online Roulette Guide and Betting Options
Play Online Roulette Games from the comfort of your home!
The game of roulette is perhaps the oldest casino game still being played. It has been around for some 300 years! The game is played by rolling a small ball in one direction inside a numbered and slotted wheel. The wheel spins in the opposite direction. When the ball comes to rest in a slot, the winning number is decided. You win or lose depending on the bets you placed prior to the spin.
The wheel has 18 red slots and 18 black slots. A european roulette wheel has one green slot for the number 0 whilst the American based slot sometimes has an additional 00 green slot. Given that players focus on the red and black slots, these green slots represent the house advantage. Playing a single 0 roulette game (european) thus gives far better odds than the double zero wheel.
There are several ways to play roulette and place your bets as systems have been devised to beat the casino. Don’t be tempted to follow these fail safe systems! The fact is that the ball can fall in any slot at any time. Don’t fall for Martingale systems neither. These rely on a double up to eventually achieve a win. That is all well and good except that the casinos restrict your bets by way of table limits. You WILL eventually come short. The best advice we have is that you should play your luck and cut your losses on a bad day whilst riding your luck really hard on a good day.
Betting options for Roulette
The standard double-zero wheel gives the house a 5.26% edge. European roulette is however played on a wheel that contains only one zero. The single zero wheel reduces the house edge to 2.70% and offers the player better chances of winning. In roulette or online roultte you have certain betting options. The general classification of bets is determined by the placement of betting chips on the table. These bets are Inside bets (made on numbers directly inside the numbered table), and Outside bets (made on the betting area surrounding the number layout).
